Peter Beckwith co-founded the first Riverside Club at Chiswick in September 1985. It was the first of two multi sports clubs to be built at that time with 8 indoor tennis courts - which thereby increased the UK stock of indoor courts by 5%. Four additional clubs were subsequently added and Riverside Plc was sold in May 1997 for over £60 million
In 1995, Peter bought 50% of the newly constructed tennis, health and fitness Harbour Club, Chelsea for £3.6 million and subsequently purchased the Harbour Club in Milan. In August 1998, he and his partner Francisco Soler, sold the fashionable Chelsea club for £22.3 million but still retain the Milan club, currently with over 3,500 members.
